About us
Carla’s treasure team is made of two members: a loving mother & an amazing little one.
I have a Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care, a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, two degrees in Psychology and in Geography and two Masters in the same fields. I worked with children from private families providing childcare services and private tuition from 2011 until 2015 when I became pregnant. We moved then from London to a small, quiet town in Northamptonshire which meets our family’s needs.
I have always been preoccupied with children’s cognitive, emotional and social development, but since my daughter came into this world my biggest dream is to nurture her the best as I possibly can.
My system of beliefs regarding the education of my child is to follow her, to let her be and express herself, allowing her to make her own choices. I love to observe her how she is learning through play and I am always there for her to guide her whenever she needs it or asks for help. My aim is to facilitate her cognitive, emotional and social development by offering her the best environment possible. I love to offer her an environment full of love, joy, affection, kindness and security and I also love to choose the best materials/resources in order for her to develop her curiosity, confidence, concentration and independence.
So when she was around 6 month old and she was able to sit without support I made her the first treasure basket. We were both so excited about it. She loved handling, mouthing and discovering every single object and I enjoyed watching her being so involved in the activity, following her curiosity and developing her independence. So I made her another one, and another one, and different themes ones as I have seen what a richly satisfying learning experience she is getting from exploring a treasure basket on a daily basis.
It was not long until I came with the idea of offering other children and parents the opportunity to have “ready-made” treasure baskets at reasonable prices. I already had the experience and expertise to allow me to carefully select and “hand-pick” all these rich-sensory objects from different places, and I also have my little one who “road-tested” every single object. And I must admit she is one of the greatest testers ever.
On the 27th of February 2017 we sold our first sensory treasure basket. I was so excited. Then being so passionate about it I kept on improving, creating and offering bespoke products which make unique gifts for children.
By using a treasure basket, it not only stimulates children’s senses but provides them with rich mental stimulation which activates the growth of the brain.
A treasure basket offers the opportunity of open-ended play as babies grow older and it can be used throughout early years education.
We also offer other educational toys (mainly handmade: wooden or crochet toys and materials) which provide learning opportunities but also fun and satisfying experiences for children.
These resources are inspired from pedagogies, such as: Montessori, Waldorf or Reggio and were first bought or hand made for Selena Carla (my daughter). After they have been tested by us in every possible way we decided that other little ones might be fascinated by them as well.
I work hard to make our customers happy and provide them with an excellent service, always having in mind “to treat others the way I would like to be treated”. So in other words to offer others the services/products I would like to be receiving.
We try to be as eco-friendly as possible, so the products or materials we choose are eco-friendly and are coming from responsible or organic sources whenever possible. Our sustainability criteria is: toys and resources which are made from non-toxic and natural materials, that are manufactured in an environmentally conscious way and that are packed with recyclable or recycled packaging.
If you would like to support small business like ours please do, as they are made with and from love. I can guarantee you will get a different kind of care and quality, originality, authenticity and variety, but also a feel like home.
We would be more than grateful and thankful for your support.
